sometimes thing don’t go as planned, we totally understand!
You can cancel the trip 24 hours in advance and you will be refunded in full. Just share with us your details
We usually require a minimum of two people for this, however if you are a solo paddler, contact us and we’ll see if we can add you to an existing tour. If you have a large group, we would be happy to work out a trip that meets your needs! We strongly believe in providing a quality experience and that can be difficult to do if the group is too big.
What is the ratio of guides to clients and guides to kayaks? We have a ratio of 1 guide to a maximum of 8 clients or 4 kayaks. If your group is larger than 8 participants, we will add another guide.
What do I need to bring?Hat, sunglasses, camera, sunscreen, insect repellent, long sleeve top, towel and change of dry clothes. We can provide dry bags for the things you want to bring with you for the day. Other items that you do not wish to get wet can be stored at our base.
Will we be on the water and kayaking the whole time?Once you’re on the kayak, we’ll be on the water the whole time but the guide will know when to take a break in between. When we get to the base, you’ll need some time to get changed and pack your belongings. Your guide will brief the group on safety issues and give you a lesson in kayaking techniques before we get on the water, if necessary. During the tour, we can take a break from paddling while in the mangrove forest and a short swim at the main river. When we return around mid-afternoon, we highly recommend you to rinse your personal kayaking gear in fresh water.
What is the minimum age?The proper fitting of the flotation aid is more important than age. We have taken out kids as young as six years old. Under the age of 12, you need to be accompanied by an adult on a one-to-one basis. If you have young children, please contact us to determine if the trip is appropriate for them.
What if I am not a strong swimmer?Strong swimming skills are not essential on guided tours, though some comfort in the water is required. You will need to have a sense of adventure and enjoy spending time outdoors and on the water.
How fit do I have to be?A minimal level of fitness is required for kayaking trips. The pace is always adjusted to suit the group and we take frequent breaks. Our guides will give you some tips on efficient paddling technique and you will rapidly develop your skills. Enthusiasm is more important than fitness.
What is the weather like in Langkawi? The weather in Langkawi is consistently hot and humid all-year-round, with occasional rainfall and cloudy skies, but thankfully it’s never too drastic. Located on the north-western coast of Peninsular Malaysia in the Malaccan Straits, this enduringly popular island is shielded from major winds and storms by the mainland on one side and Sumatra on the other. As Langkawi is situated near the equator, the town enjoys a tropical nature with the Andaman Sea remaining relatively calm all year long, and due to its consistent climate, locals and travellers can visit this tropical island at anytime of the year.
Will there be any other reason for a cancellation?Safety first. Our policy is not to launch a guided tour on safety grounds if we consider that the wind and weather conditions are unsafe for that group. Our guides will be continually assessing the conditions and may decide to cancel or terminate a trip before the tour starts.
What happens if the trip is cancelled? If the trip is cancelled before the day of the booking, we will reschedule the trip for you. If it is not possible for you to reschedule, you will be given a trip voucher or a full refund. But rest assured, throughout our experience – Langkawi’s weather is 98% good to go!
Are we able to go during low tide? No, we’re not able to proceed into the smaller canals where only kayaks can fit through. But we assure you that you will be able to explore the smaller canals of the mangroves! It’s our number 1 priority! With that being said, tours will start depending on the tide level.
